For Adult Children of Aging Parents

The Sandwich Generation:

Caring for Your Parents, Your Children, and Your Career

YouTube Preview Image

Many clients who first call us for service are women in the “Sandwich Generation.” They have careers and families, and they are also providing care for elderly parents. They may be Family Caregivers from a distance, or their parents may live locally. Sometimes, the home may be multi-generational, with the children and aging parents within the same home, cared for by the “Sandwiched” middle generation, who are simultaneously Adult Children, and parents of their own children.

Primary caregivers, whether of the Sandwich Generation or a wife caring for an aging husband, are at high risk for health problems and depression.

The Respite Program is designed to give the primary caregiver a break and a breather, a little time to get out of the house, do a few errands, and refresh yourself a bit. Being a Family Caregiver is a tremendous responsibility, and you need to take care of yourself too. Occasional Respite Care is affordable and you are not committed to any particular frequency of service.  Simply call 831-649-3363 for a no-cost in home consultation.

Long Distance Caregivers

If you live at a distance from Monterey, Central Coast Senior Services, Inc. can serve as the vital link that allows your parents to age safely in their own home. Caregiving from a distance is a real challenge, and the services of our Personal Attendants and Home Care Coordinators can help you fill the gaps in so many practical ways.

The most essential role for our Home Care Coordinators is in reducing the potential for harm to your parents. (Click here for a deeper discussion of Harm Reduction for the Elderly.)

We provide all the necessary personal care, shopping, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping and coordination of home maintenance services.

We provide transportation to medical appointments and errands, or to simply get out for a day of fresh air and relaxation.

We provide high quality in-home care services, but it really does take much more than a caregiver to meet the needs of seniors as they become increasingly frail.

Our Home Care Coordinator supervisors will keep you informed, and will serve as a reliable management and communication link between your parents and all of their varying service and health care professionals. And they perform this vital role at no added cost to you.
